There is an old adage that says if you want something done, you should do it yourself. If you want to have a fun time with other people for little to no cost, you’ll have to initiate it yourself. You can start your own club for free, and meet new people with shared interests to you.

Say, for example, you have a passion for model airplanes. There are definitely other people out there who like model airplanes (... they wouldn’t keep making them otherwise.) So imagine how fun it would be for all of you to get together and discuss the subject. You could compare models, build and create new ones together, and share advice and tips. You could even post pictures on the internet of models you’ve been working on. It may well become something that expands and becomes increasingly popular over time.

Starting your own club can be a completely cost-free endeavour, and only requires someone with the incentive and drive to do it. If you are that sort of person, then perhaps this is the course of action for you.

Firstly, you need an idea. It’s simple really: think of what you couldn’t live without, the most colourful part of your day, the thing you spend the most time doing and thinking about. Is it salsa dancing? Farming? Looking after your rabbit? Reading? Whatever you’re passionate about, there are sure to be others out there who love it as well. Advertise your club by putting up posters in model shops and spreading the word online through friends and contacts; it really doesn’t have to be formal. You’ll soon have an idea of what’s out there, and the rest will just fall into place. A club will be formed and you will have a group of people interested in the same thing as you.
